Abstract:

Powder bed fusion of metal with laser beam (PBF-LB/M) is predestined in particular for the production of complex geometries in small batches. However, the surface quality in the as-built state is not sufficient for many applications, which is why processing becomes necessary. In addition, with unfavourable parameter selection, increased pore formation can be observed in the surface-near area. In this study, the influence of the contour parameters of the PBF-LB/M on the surface roughness and, the occurring subsurface porosity of components made of AlSi10Mg was investigated. The results show that at low roughnesses, subsurface pores do influence crack extension. But even at high pore content, no significant influence on the resulting fatigue life can be detected.
