Abstract:
The Lightweight Design & Structural Durability Research Group at the AutoM Competence Center of the TH Mittelhessen has already been active in the field of bionics for several years. A novel bionic design practice BioKoPra has emerged from the successfully completed Bionik Additive project. This is presented as an example using the seat cushion application for buses and trains from the BMBF project BOOST - Biologically Inspired Seating System. With the bionic lightweight structures developed, innovative seat cushions can be realized via a modular system, which have different local properties distributed over the seat surface and are thus suitable for the first time for a wide range of requirements and passengers. The risk of thrombosis caused by unergonomic seat cushions is thus significantly reduced.
